Bolt ons… G-body suspension parts

Finally time to put some G-body suspension parts to good use. I cleaned up the donor frame and added a coat of VHT semi gloss epoxy paint for a fresh look. Everything attached to the frame that needed cleaned up also got a fresh coat of VHT semi gloss black epoxy paint. The -8 hardware was sourced from multiple hardware stores (Sears, True-value, Lowes, and Charlie’s Farm and home). All of these bolt on, G-body suspension parts were upgrades over the stock suspension stuff, and I am hoping this allows the car to perform a little better. Check out the following photos of the suspension upgrades.

First parts on the new frame were the Hotchkis upper control arms. These are designed as a B-body short upper control arm.

This shot is of the Moser 9″ with a 3.70 gear/Detroit locker/nodular iron 3rd member with billet daytona bearing/and 31 splined axles with all new bearings. Also seenm here is the Energy suspension bushings, Edelbrock adjustable rear upper control arms, QA1 shocks, Hotchkis 2″ drop springs, Hotchkis lower control arms, Hotchkis rear air bag kit, Baer 11″ rear zinc plated/slotted and drilled rotors. Everything was installed with new -8 hardware and mechanical locking nuts.

This is a G-force X-member getting ready to be installed with -8 hardware. Also shown is a “Z” quick ratio steering box from a Grand National.  I was very fortunate to purchase all new steering components from my friend Chris that sells Monte Carlo parts in Kansas City, MO.

Energy suspension joints, Drop spindles, Hotchkis 2″ lowering springs, Baer 12″ front zinc plated slotted and drilled rotors, F41 sway bar, stock lower control arm (media blasted and epoxy painted), moog lower ball joint, and 1 blurry cell phone picture.

Frame jounce supports from a g-body cutlass were also added.

Its fun when you actually get to see some progress.  It’s slowly starting to resemble a car again.  More parts on the way next time .
